Getting started
Installing takes a minute. Two of the steps after it depend on other people — your DNS and a mobile carrier — so they are worth starting on day one even if you are not ready to send anything yet.
Installing
Install from Shopify. You will be asked to approve a set of permissions, which is how Ezzeefy reads your orders, customers and products. It cannot reach anything you have not granted, and if a new capability later needs more, Shopify asks you again rather than widening access quietly.
As soon as the install finishes, Ezzeefy begins copying your existing customers, orders and products so the analytics have history to work with. A large catalogue takes a while. A background sync then keeps things current and picks up anything missed.
Switch on the theme app embeds
This is the step most stores miss, and it is the reason a merchant reports that personalization or popups “do not work”. Installing the app is not enough — the storefront code is delivered through your theme, and you have to turn it on.
In Shopify go to Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds. There are two separate toggles:
- 1
Ezzeefy
Enables the personalization runtime — targeted content, recommendation blocks and the visitor recognition behind them. Without this, no campaign renders. - 2
Ezzeefy Popups
Serves popups site-wide. Separate on purpose, so you can run personalization without popups or the other way round.
Save the theme after switching them on. If you change to a different theme later, switch them on there too — the setting belongs to the theme, not the store.
Set up sending
Both channels need verification before anything can go out in bulk. Neither is instant, and neither is something Ezzeefy can hurry.
- 1
Verify your sending domain
Add the DNS records shown in Settings → Sending identity. Until they resolve, bulk email is blocked rather than queued. This protects your domain reputation — sending unauthenticated mail is the fastest way into spam folders. - 2
Register an SMS sender
In Settings → SMS identity. Mobile carriers review sender registrations before allowing business messaging, and that review takes time. Start it early if SMS is part of your plan.
Approve the subscription
Shopify handles billing. When you subscribe, Shopify shows an approval screen with the plan and the rates, and nothing is charged until you approve it. Ezzeefy never sees your payment details.
Pricing is usage-based, each plan includes a monthly allowance that is not charged, and your subscription carries a spending cap that usage cannot exceed within a period. You get a grace period from install before a subscription is needed.
What to expect on the first day
Your customers, orders and products appear quickly, because they are copied from Shopify. Analytics built on them — lifetime value, order counts, segments — work straight away.
Storefront analytics are different. They only record once real shoppers browse your store, and only where their cookie consent allows it. A quiet store, or one that has just installed, shows very little on day one. That is expected rather than a fault.
The predictive scores — lifecycle stage, churn risk, predicted lifetime value — are calculated on a daily schedule rather than instantly, so give them a day before judging them.
Where to go next
Personalization to change what shoppers see, email and SMS to start sending, or troubleshooting if something is already not behaving.
